The Hegeler Carus Mansion is a 57 room, 16,000 square foot dwelling designed by noted architect W.W. Boyington. The mansion is about 95 miles from Chicago and and about 15 minutes from Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks.
We stopped at the mansion on our way to Starved Rock State Park. On the day of our visit, the mansion was hosting an art show for local artists. We walked around the mansion to take in the beauty mansion. The mansion is currently undergoing restoration.
Visitors can experience the grandeur of August Fiedler’s interior design by taking one of their tours and learn about the Hegeler and Carus families.
The mansion open for tours Wednesday – Sunday: Noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm
