This spring I had the pleasure of photographing the Navistar lobby in Lisle, Illinois. Being a resident of Naperville, I’ve driven past this building so many times and always wanted to capture the amazing lines created by the struts.
My host who works at Navistar was kind enough to get me in. I knew I wanted to capture the shadows created by the struts in the afternoon sun. The spring of 2015 was quite rainy. Finally the weather cooperated on a Sunday afternoon. On entering the lobby I was just in awe, it took me some time to figure out how to capture the grandeur of the lobby. I started with taking some panoramic shots and then focusing on closeup and abstracts. You need a really wide angle lens to capture the essence of this place. I was wishing I had a wider angle lens to fully capture the lines for some abstract art. We also took images from different floors, I loved the view from the topmost floor. After shooting architectural images we went back down to shoot photographs of the vintage vehicles that are housed on one side of the lobby. Enjoy the images.
